Pet Not Walking with Hip-EEZ^® on:

If your pup is hesitant to walk once their dog hip support harness is on, try making a couple of adjustments. Check the strap connecting to the chest harness isn’t too tight. By loosening this strap, it may make it more comfortable for your pet while keeping the panels in place.

Remember it will take some time for your pet to get used to the Hip-EEZ^®. Use treats and positive reinforcement to encourage them.

Gap on Top of Pelvis when secure leg panels:

Not every pet’s body type will fit perfectly with the leg panels. Try and secure the Velcro panels over the top of the pelvis tightly. If there is gapping, you can try refastening the panels. The design allows for the panels to Velcro easily together in different positions. A small gap will still allow the product to offer support. Ideally, you want to secure the brace as tightly as possible, in a way that is still comfortable for you.

How to Choose the Right Size

To determine the best size Hip-EEZ^® for your pet, please measure your dog in a natural standing position and measure from 1″ above the right stifle (knee) to the middle of the back. If in-between sizes, please select the size based on your dog’s weight range.

What you should know about your dog’s hips–
The canine hip is a ball and socket joint. Therefore this sturdy dog hip support is design to holds the joint ‘in place’.
Some breeds like German Shepherds or Golden Retrievers are more prone to developing hip disorders. This does not mean other breeds of dogs are immune. It is important to keep an eye on your dogs movements as they age. If you see changes in the way they get up, walk or sit down, do not waste time in consulting your vet.

Is there a Natural treatment for canine hip dysplasia?
Ideally never breed from a dog which suffers from the condition. Ask your vet about external supports and physiotherapy. You must attend to the an affected hip or it will deteriorate.

A good dog hip support/belt is designed to provide an external support, when the internal mechanisms of the dog fail due to age, injury or improper breeding. A hip support may be used to delay or avoid surgery, but that is a decision only your veterinarian can make.
