Protective collars also known as E Collars, Recovery cones, Elizabethan collars, protective collars, are an essential tool for a recovering dog.
Why are they important and how do they help your pet recover?
- The collar creates a barrier between the point of injury/ surgery and the pets ability to tear apart a dressing, stitches or pull out a IV.
- Most pets will rebel against the collar, if you know your pet is to undergo a surgery, get them used to the collar before the procedure.
- Make sure you measure your dog for a collar that fits comfortably. When using the collar a safe rule of thumb to make sure the collar fits comfortably you should be able to insert two fingers between the collar and the dogs neck.
- Oliver’s Tip: Do not share collars at vets offices or animal hospitals.
