Dogs are our business, literally.
It is difficult to enter a new year with "unbound enthusiasm" and 'renewed goals" with a looming uncertainty of millions of dogs.
This year concludes with uncertainty and apprehension for the fate of millions of street dogs, who bring joy, protection and humanity to our neighbourhoods rural and urban.
We are a nation of an estimated 40 million pets in homes. Street and community animals are the close cousins of each and every house pet.
The Indian Pet Industry
The cousins of each and every household pet- the Indian Street Dog- approximately 60 million of them are in danger.
The danger comes from ignorance. Wilfully ignoring facts, science and workable solutions. If the mass culling and incarceration of dogs is implemented, it is a failure of systems set in place to spay and neuter.
And the failure of the community and society to protect the most vulnerable, loyal members of our society. Whom we depend on to defend our borders, protect our institutions, work along side our forces.
This is peak human selfishness to spare the dogs we need for their utility and discard the "left overs"
The world and our future generations are watching- and will one day demand an explanation- do you have answers for them?
